THE MOST ASKED QUESTIONS DEALING WITH SEPTIC SYSTEMS ARE:

1. How close can a Septic Tank be to the foundation?

(if you have a full basement you have to be at least 15 feet away, but from a neighbors foundation, you have to be at least 25 feet away).

2. How close can the lateral be to my foundation?

(if you have a full basement you have to be at least 30 feet away, but from a neighbors foundation, you have to be at least 40 feet away.

NOTE: THERE ARE DIFFERENT RULES FOR DIFFERENT CLASS FOUNDATIONS: a class (1) foundation is a full basement, a class (2) foundation is a slab on grade, a class (3) foundation is a slab on grade non living quarters (such as a garage, or storage shed).

3. How far do I have to be from my private drinking well with my Septic Tank?

(You have to be at least 50 feet from yours and 50 feet from your neighbor).

4. How far do I have to be from my private drinking well with my Lateral System?

(You have to be at least 100 feet from yours and 100 feet from your neighbors).

5. How far do I have to be from surface water with my Septic Tank? example, (lake, river, stream).

(You have to be at least 50 feet).

6. How far do I have to be from Surface Water with my Laterals System? example, (lake, river, stream).

(You have to be at least 50 feet).

7. How far does my pressure water line or pressure service connection have to be from my Septic Tank?

(You have to be at least 10 feet from a pressure water line, and 10 feet from a pressure service connection).

8. How far does my pressure water line or pressure service connection, have to be from the laterals.

(You have to be 25 feet from the pressure water line, and 25 feet from the pressure service connection).

9. How far do I have to be from a water suction line with the septic tank and lateral?

(You have to be at least 50 feet away from the septic tank and 100 feet away from the lateral).
