Septic Systems
On Site Waste Water System is the proper name for a Residence Septic System.
Before a person considers the Dream House in the Country, they need to understand what takes place.
Each proposed site, for the location of a Septic Tank and its Soil Absorption System shall be evaluated to determine if it qualifies, Here are just a few.
1. The Type, Size, Location, and Elevation of the proposed system.
2. Depth to the highest measured or estimated Water Table, in the wettest years. Note: there must be at least 4 foot separation between the bottom on the lateral ditch and the top of the water table.
3. Surface water flood probability. A septic system shall not be installed in a designated ten-year floodplain.
4. Soil Percolation testing, A test must be taken to determine how fast the ground accepts water, and depending on the rate of percolation determines how much lateral is needed per bedroom. Note: if the rate is faster than 5 min per inch you must line the bottom with a 12 inch liner of sandy loam material between 15 – 20 min per inch rate. Or if the rate is slower than 60 min per inch the area is unsuitable for a lateral system and be designed by a Engineer.
5. Enough land to accommodate the utilities needed, for today and for the future.
